Operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command, have arrested one Mika’ilu Abubakar, 27, for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl in Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s public relations officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, October 10, 2024, said the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the NSCDC Divisional office in Kiyawa LGA by the victim’s brother.
“One Mika’ilu Abubakar (M), aged 27, of Unguwar Yan Koli Zakirai Village, Kiyawa LGA was arrested by the operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command on Sunday, 07th day of October 2024 at approximately 1500hrs on a suspected r@pe case of an eight-year-old girl of Zakirai Village in Kiyawa LGA,” the statement read.
“The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the NSCDC Divisional office in Kiyawa LGA by the eldest brother of the victim who reported that his sister was raped.
“The complainant revealed that he came back from work where he asked about his sister’s whereabouts and he was told that Mika’ilu had gone home with her, upon hearing that, he sent for her and she came out from his parlour crying, and was asked what happened, and she stated that Mika’ilu had carnal knowledge of her against her wish.
“And when asked why she was in his house, she said he collected her handbag and refused to give her back which made her follow him to his house to collect it and unknown to her he had an ulterior motive. Upon reaching his house he locked the door and forced himself against her.
“The suspect denied having carnal knowledge of the girl but confessed to having rubbed his manhood on her private part to release sexual tension.
“Medical examinations conducted on the victim at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Dutse General Hospital reveal multiple penetrations, breakage of hymen and bruises around the vaginal area.
“The suspect will be charged to court of competent jurisdiction after investigation.”
