Independence Day: Adequate Security Measures In Place, Oyo CP Assures Residents
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, said the command has made necessary security arrangements for October 1 Nigeria’s 60th Independence Day celebration.
In a press statement made available to AllNews by the command spokesman, Fadeyi Olugbenga, Enwonwu congratulated the good people of Oyo State and also wished them a fruitful independence celebration of the country’s Diamond Jubilee.
According Enwonwu, adequate security measures have been put in place to identify, isolate, and neutralize all possible security threats to the independence celebration.
The Enwonwu assured that all police tactical teams including the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS); Anti-Kidnapping squad (AKS); Swift Response squad (SRS); Police Mobile Force 4 and 72; Skynet squad; Puff Adder; Federal and Safer Highway Patrol teams; Counter-Terrorism squad (CTU); among others have been deployed to all parts within and outside Ibadan metropolis to provide adequate security for a hitch-free celebration.
In the same vein, the CP strongly advises members of the public to be wary of criminals that may be bent on carrying out their evil intentions during and after this period to dispossess innocent citizens of their hard-earned money and properties.
He said, “In view of the security challenges, the criminal-minded individuals in our midst are obviously deploying all kinds of strategy, tactics, and means to carry out their nefarious activities.”
However, Enwonwu reaffirmed that the Oyo State Police Command is battle-ready and will not relent in its efforts to protect the lives and properties of the citizenry.
He assured that people can operate and carry out their lawful businesses in a safe and secure environment.
