Ikoyi Building Collapse Update: Death Toll Rises To 38

News reaching Vondigest is that the death toll from the Ikoyi building collapse has increased to 38; two more bodies have been recovered from the debris.
The Acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Lagos State Territory, Ibrahim Farinloye, gave the latest update.
According to Mr. Farinloye, “additional two male bodies were recovered some minutes ago (Thursday morning) making the death toll a total number of 38 (35 males and three females).
Farinloye said the total number of survivors remained nine (one female, eight males).
Rescue operations are still ongoing, while family members of victims still trapped inside the collapse building wait anxiously.
It would be recalled that the Governor of Lagos State has ordered for the immediate investigation to ascertain the circumstances that resulted in the building that collapsed in the Ikoyi axis of the state.
It said that the investigations would unravel the circumstances that resulted in the building that collapsed and killed over three artisans that were working at the site
