Guinness World Records confirms Hild Baci as new record holder for longest cooking marathon
…Gives reasons for deducting 7 hours from her 100hrs record
Guinness World Records has confirmed Hilda Baci as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon.
Vondigest reports that this was confirmed on their official website on Tuesday.
The post reads, “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.
“The 26-year-old Nigerian chef began on Thursday 11 May and continued through to Monday 15 May, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.
“Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.”
The previous record of 87 hours 45 minutes was set by Lata Tondon (India) in 2019.
Guinness World Records Gives Reason Why It Failed to Award 100 Hours to Hilda Baci
Guinness World Record stated that minutes were deducted from Hilda’s final total due to an error she made during one of her rest breaks early in the attempt.
According to the organisation, participants in marathon records are entitled to a five-minute break for every hour completed, allowing for necessary rest periods due to the prolonged nature of these challenges. In Hilda’s case, there was a miscalculation in her rest breaks, leading to the disqualification of her claimed 100-hour record.
It said,” However, anyone attempting a marathon record receives a five minutes break for every hour that they complete. This is to allow suitable rest breaks for the participants due to the prolonged nature of these records.
”In this case, there was a miss calculation when it came to Hilda’s rest breaks, meaning we are unable to award the 100 hours claimed.”
Nonetheless, the Guinness representative, in a video message, announced Hilda Baci as the new holder of the Guinness World Records title for the longest cooking marathon, with an impressive time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
The organisation congratulated her on the achievement, stating, “Congratulations, you are officially amazing.”
