FG approves construction of Lekki International Airport
The Federal Government has approved the construction of the Lekki International Airport in the Lekki-Epe area of Lagos State.
The PUNCH had reported that the Lagos State Government said it would begin the construction of a new airport in the Lekki-Epe area of the state in 2023.
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, presented the approval for the new airport to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on behalf of the Federal Government at the Lagos Economic Summit 2022, held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Vondigest gathered that the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, disclosed this in a tweet.
Gawat wrote, “The Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu officially receives the Federal Government Approval for the Lekki Epe Airport today at the Lagos Economic Summit, Ehingbeti 2022 at the Eko Hotel and Suites.
“Hon. Minister of Aviation, @hadisirika explains the importance of the Lekki-Epe Airport. He says Lagos is very significant to the economy of the country and that the current Murtala Muhammed Airport is already congested.
“Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu says there is a lot more positive “breaking news” to come at the Lagos Economic Summit, #Ehingbeti2022 and Lagosians should watch out.”
Presenting the approval to Sanwo-Olu, Sirika said, “In the name of God the most merciful, we in the Civil Aviation Ministry are pleased to issue out this approval to Lagos State. May it be a vision to Lagos, to its people, its future, its fortune, the country, and to humanity.”
