Chelsea to Face Real Madrid in Champions League Quarter-Final on Friday
Champions League trophy holder, Chelsea were drawn against 13-time winners Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Friday, with the English club’s future in jeopardy.
Now, the Blues will face Real Madrid in the next round as they look to defend their title.
Chelsea are up for sale after the British government placed Russian owner Roman Abramovich under sanctions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Vondigest reports that last season saw Chelsea lift the Champions League trophy, qualifying top from their group before beating Atletico Madrid in the round of 16, dominating over two legs.
Next up for Chelsea was FC Porto in the quarter-final stages before they faced Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
The final was an all English affair, with Chelsea triumphing 1-0 thanks to a Kai Havertz goal.
This season, Chelsea have lost one match in the Champions League, falling to defeat in Italy as Juventus won 1-0, with the Blues falling to second place in the group stages.
The first leg of the quarter-final ties will be played on April 5/6 and the return fixtures on April 12/13.

Holders Chelsea will play Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, while Manchester City have been drawn against Atletico Madrid.
Manchester City will face Chelsea in the semi-final if both sides are successful in the quarters – which would be a repeat of last season’s final in Porto.
Chelsea overcame Real Madrid in last season’s semi-final, beating the 13-time winners of this competition 3-1 on aggregate, and will be looking to do the same this time out in the quarters.
“It’s a tough one,” said Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel. “The challenge couldn’t be much higher, playing the second leg in the Bernabeu with spectators. It’s a big challenge and a big excitement around this match and this fixture. We know what’s coming and it will be an exciting match and a tough challenge.”
