President Buhari appoints another Northerner, Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff
President Muhammadu Buhari and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.
Prior to his appointment, Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter Terrorism, Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East, code named Operation HADIN KAI.
This is happening days after the death of the former Chief of Army Staff, General Ibrahim Attahiru who was involved in a place crash.
The allegation that President Muhammadu Buhari is appointing only persons from the northern region of the country into key agencies and positions power in government has further been strengthened by this latest appointment of Major General Yahaya, who replaced Late General Ibrahim Attahiru, who was also a northerner.
