Police AIG, Zone 5 In Charge Of Edo State Retires Just 72 HoursTo Elections
Amid the very heated verbal wars currently going on in Edo State as the citizens prepare for what may seem the most anticipated elections for a long while, the Zonal chief law officer and the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 5 which comprises of Edo and Delta states, Mr. Dabal Paul Yakadi, has bowed out of service.
His retirement comes just about 72 hours to the elections.
Yakadi retired on Tuesday after attaining the mandatory age of retirement.
This writer had reached out to confirm the retirement from the respected AIG by sending an SMS to his direct line which he responded in the affirmative.
Yakadi was transferred to the zonal command as AIG and he resumed duties on the 11th of February 2020
Prior to his deployment to the zone as AIG, he had held several top ranking positions in the Nigeria Police Force which includes the Commissioner of Police, Benue Police Command, Commissioner of Police, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Force Headquarters, Abuja, Commandant, Police College Ikeja, Lagos State, and Commissioner of Police, Niger Police Command.
With the retirement of this fine law officer, one however wonders how the new security apparatus of the Nigerian police will be during the coming elections.
A sneak peek into the Nigerian police force website shows that the IG had deployed some other senior police officers to maintain law and order during the elections.
They include DIG Adeleye Olusola Oyabade, DIG in charge of Research and Planning who will be in charge of supervising the general security arrangement for the election in the State. Assisting him will be AIG in charge of Federal Operations at the Force Headquarters Abuja, Karma Hosea Hassan, and eight (8) Commissioners of Police.
While we wish the retired AIG a happy retirement, this is hoping the security apparatus in Edo State will be maintained and all forms of imminent danger will be promptly arrested in other to make the elections a peaceful process.
