Breaking: Ogun finally reopens Mosques, Churches, lifts weekend lockdown

Ogun State government has lifted the ban on worship centres after several months of restriction on religious centres in the state.
Governor Dapo Abiodun made this announcement on Friday, August 13, while giving an update on the efforts of the government in combating the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
He urged worshipers to use facemask, maintain social distancing and comply with COVID-19 guidelines, noting that Muslims are expected to go to the mosques with their separate mat and perform ablutions from their homes.
Abiodun urged religious leaders to comply with the directive and work with the state government in smoothing the curve of COVID-19 in the state. The governor also relaxed the weekend lockdown which has always been in place for months in the state, urging residents to maintain the usual practice of not having social gathering of more than 20 persons.
JSS 3 students in the state have also been directed to resume on Monday, August 18, to prepare for their examination.
“Let me say that now that our worship centres are open for activities, the restrictions on weekends are lifted, but the limitation on social gatherings not exceeding 20 people at any place at the same time is still very much in force. “Observation of dusk-to-dawn curfew as directed by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) i.e. between 10.00 pm and 4.00 am daily. Wearing of face masks in the public is compulsory and failure to do so is punishable. “Only one passenger is still allowed for motorcycles and two passengers only for tricycles. Taxi cabs and buses still have 60% limitation on their carrying capacity and non-adherence attracts sanction. “The COVID-19 Task Force in markets must continue to ensure physical distancing, availability of handwashing facilities, and use of gloves and facemasks for traders. Decontamination will continue in our markets and other public places,” he said.
