Breaking: NECO announces timetable for 2020 SS3 exams
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that its 2020 examinations for SS3 students will commence on October 5.
The announcement was made by the NECO registrar/chief executive officer, Professor Godswill Obioma at a press conference in Minna, Niger State, on Tuesday, August 11, Channels TV reported.
Obioma said the NECO SS3 exam will end on November 18, 2020. The registrar also disclosed that the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) for JSS 3 students, also conducted by NECO, will start on August 24 and end of September 4 and no longer September 7 as earlier announced.
He stated that NECO admission of JSS1 students into federal unity colleges will hold on Saturday 17th October 2020. The examination body stated that it has put in place special measures for the conduct of all its examinations this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. NEC0 noted that maintaining social distancing protocols by candidates and examination officials is compulsory.
Meanwhile, the resumption of students in graduating classes on Monday, August 10, after four months of COVID-19 lockdown was marked by a high turnout across the country as secondary schools reopened for return of classes. In a report by The Nation, pupils and their teachers in both public and private schools in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital, complied with the COVID-19 safety protocols ahead of the commencement of the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
