Video: Massive crowd besiege CBN office on Lagos as Nigerians struggle to deposit old naira notes
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Marina, Lagos State, was besieged by massive crowd as Nigerians struggle to deposit their old N500 and N1000 notes.
Vondigest reports that the development is based on the instruction of the governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, who asked Nigerians in possession of the old notes to deposit them at offices of the CBN nationwide.
It was observed that a handwritten notice indicating just a website, www.crs.cbn.gov.ng, was pasted at the gate of the bank.
Lagosians were seen copying and snapping the website with their phones in order for them to be able to commence the process of depositing their old naira notes with the apex bank.
Men of the Nigerian police are on the ground to maintain law and order.
On Friday, citizens besieged the Marina branch office of the CBN to deposit their old naira notes.
