Popular filmmaker and AMAA founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe is Dead
Vondigest reports that popular filmmaker and Founder/Chief Executive Officer, Africa Movies Academy Awards (AMAA), Peace Anyiam-Osigwe is dead.
This online platform learnt that the respected filmmaker breathed her last on Monday night, January 9 at St Nicholas Hospital, Lagos, after a brief illness.
A fellow filmmaker, Obi Emelonye, the producer of Last Flight to Abuja in a terse confirmation stated that the respected and influential filmmaker breathed her last monday.
He said: “Thank you and good night dada Peace,” in a short tribute to her on the social media network, Facebook.
The news of her demise was also confirmed by filmmaker, Zik Zulu. “Our President, Peace, has passed. As at Saturday, she was reported to be in coma at Saint Nicholas. But now her family has confirmed her transition. May the memory of her life be a blessing. Rest in peace, dear Peace,”, he wrote.
Another Nollywood icon, songwriter, and filmmaker, Mike Nliam, queried, “How can 2023 start like this?”
“The founder of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMMA) and president of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria, Peace Anyiam Osigwe, is gone to be with d Lord!
“Nollywood was everything to her! Oh, what a tragic news!
“Life indeed is so fickle! May her soul rest in d bosom of d Lord.”
Until her death, Peace was referred to as the ‘queen of Nollywood films.’
