Gunmen in their numbers on Monday morning invaded the Obudi Agwa community in Oguta LGA of Imo State, killed the traditional ruler of the community and his two guests.
Vondigest gathered that the hoodlums stormed the palace of the community custodian of culture and tradition, Eze Assor, Udi of Obudi Agwa, and killed him and two others before leaving.
Speaking on the ugly development, Hon Obinna Jumbo, the coordinator of Agwa Development Centre said the incident happened this morning around 9 am.
He pointed out that the assailants arrived in two white hummer buses and three motorcycles.
The community leader who was close to tears while fielding questions from DAILY POST explained that the bodies of the traditional ruler and two others who were holding meetings with the monarch had been deposited at the mortuary.
Another community source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the gunmen were said to have executed the attack in two locations and left the community unchallenged.
He said the number of those killed could not be ascertained yet as the sad incident which shattered peace and tranquillity in Agwa community left residents shivering with most of the prominent personalities fleeing to town for fear of being killed by the rampaging unknown gunmen.
As at the time of press, the Imo Police Command spokesperson, Michael Abattam, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), was yet to speak on the killings.
